“Using BLE Technology to Solve Real-World Problems“
On May 20–21, 2025, our team at OnTimeDing proudly participated in Hack the Future, an international hackathon organized by Startup Valencia and hosted in Tallinn. The event brought together innovative minds from across Europe to build meaningful tech solutions for the future.
Our five-member team registered for the hackathon weeks in advance. Even before the event officially began, we had already started working on our idea — refining it, testing its relevance, and shaping it into a solution we believed in.
As a startup focused on employee attendance and workforce management, we’ve built our core solution around a BLE-based device that enables employees to check in and out effortlessly, even without internet access. For the hackathon, we decided to leverage this very same device — our beacon — to solve a completely different real-world problem: preventing the loss of pets during urban disasters.

The idea was simple but powerful: by attaching a beacon to pets, their locations could be tracked in emergency scenarios like floods or earthquakes, helping prevent chaos and reunite families with their beloved animals. Real events, such as the floods in Valencia, inspired us to adapt our technology to this new context — offering not just innovation, but impact.
During the two full days of Hack the Future, we worked intensively on our idea. We designed a prototype, prepared a 180-second pitch, and created presentation slides to clearly communicate our solution to the jury and fellow participants.
Presenting our idea at such a high-energy, high-talent event was a unique and valuable experience for our team. It challenged us to think beyond our current product and imagine new applications for the technology we’ve built.
Hack the Future 2025 was more than just a hackathon for us — it was a reminder of the power of technology to serve people in times of crisis. We are grateful for the opportunity to represent OnTimeDing in such an inspiring environment, and we look forward to contributing to the Estonian and European startup ecosystems through continued participation in events like this
